About Me- Lindsay Snyder, PharmD, BCPS:

Since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2007, I’ve been on a mission to find healing- beyond merely a gluten-free diet. While going gluten-free helped my symptoms somewhat, it wasn’t quite the panacea of health I was looking for. Over the last decade, I have spent countless hours reading, researching, and learning more than I ever wanted to know about autoimmune disease, functional medicine, drug development, lifestyle changes, nutrition, and cooking.

Much as I am still a mediocre cook, I have learned a lot that I want to share, not only with my fellow GF buddies but with anyone who currently suffers or is at risk for suffering from autoimmune disease in the future. (Hint: that’s probably you.)

That’s why I started blogging in 2017- not that there aren’t already some great online resources (and a heck of a lot more information than 10 years ago, trust me…), but to chronicle my research and experiences in the hope that someone else can also benefit from it.

My Background:

I graduated from the University of Toledo in 2006 with a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, then went on to earn my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2008. Yes, my Celiac diagnosis hit me smack in the middle of grad school. Good times. By the grace of God, I was honored to be valedictorian of my PharmD class.

I went on to complete a postgraduate residency in ambulatory care, then relocated to Indiana to work with a great ambulatory care pharmacy program in clinics for the underserved. I obtained my board certification as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist shortly after. Teaching pharmacy students on clinical rotation was my favorite part of the job, second only to seeing my patients- mostly for anticoagulation and diabetes care.

I had just discovered the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (whereby my techs made fun of me for sipping on my morning mug of chicken bone broth) when I found out I was expecting my first child. The SCD went by the wayside after another month or so when I suddenly dry heaved at the thought or smell of chicken and my body desperately needed more carbs.

Long story slightly shorter, I’ve been on a “child raising sabbatical” for the past five years. In that time, I have learned so much about functional medicine that I can’t even see my mainstream roots in the rear view. I’m currently using myself as a guinea pig to develop a healing protocol for intestinal permeability and I’m on the road to better health, bumpy as it has been… Good thing my husband has a soft spot for off-road vehicles.
